On Saturday night, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. Rabbi David Zaslow, spiritual leader of the Havurah and baseball aficionado, will talk about the mythos surrounding the Brooklyn Dodgers and their fabled rivalry with the N.Y. Giants and the Yankees between 1947-1957. Baseball is called the national pastime but it is also the national archetype. Rabbi David will discuss how athletics has a spiritual component, and can be a force for positive change in culture. In 1947, for example, the Brooklyn Dodgers integrated the Major Leagues by bringing Jackie Robinson onto their team. Guest speakers. $3 suggested donation, kids under 18 free. A small exhibit of Brooklyn Dodger and other baseball memorabilia will be on display. The Havurah is located at 185 N. Mountain Ave. in Ashland. Call 488-7716 for more info.
