He is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Portland State University and is the chair of Oregon's Coalition Against Hate Crimes. His most recent book is Hate Offenders (Praeger, 2009). His current work involves researching the presence of racist gangs in prison and developing a program to help paroled white supremacist inmates abandon racism outside of prison.
