Ashland New Plays Festival (ANPF) launches of its 2009 season with ANPF Student Spotlight 2009, on Monday, August 31, at 7 p.m. at Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Carpenter Hall. ANPF Student Spotlight is a collaborative project of ANPF and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF).Hosted by OSF veteran actor Richard Elmore, ANPF Student Spotlight 2009 comprises four one-act plays, including two new works: Thistles, written by award-winning student playwright Bella Pribyl, and Illyria, written specifically for the event by OSF alumna Rebecca Wood. The project includes a student director, high school and Southern Oregon University actors, and an Ashland High technical crew—all mentored by OSF professionals.Doors open at 7 p.m. for a wine, cheese, and dessert mixer; curtain is at 7:30.
