Havurah’s Annual Hanukkah Faire Sunday, December 5 at 4:30 PMOn Sunday, December 5 at 4:30 PM the public is invited to the Havurah’s Annual Hanukkah Faire. Hanukkah, Hebrew for dedication, is the Jewish holiday commemorating the re-dedication of the Temple after its destruction in 164 B.C. As in other faith traditions, Hanukkah serves to bring the light into a very dark time of year.

Children may make their own beeswax Hanukkah candles, a Hanukkah Menorah, and decorate homemade Hanukkah cookies. There will be lots of Dreydle playing, the traditional spinning top game. Greenleaf Latkes will be available for purchase with all the trimmings and the Hanukkah Gift Shop will be open with many gift ideas for Hanukkah. Rabbi David Zaslow will lead a community candle lighting and song, Devorah Zaslow will tell a Hanukkah-related story, followed by a Hanukkah Sing-a-Long. Everyone is invited to bring a Menorah and six candles to participate in the community candle lighting. The entry fee is $2 per person. Call 488-7716 for more info. The Havurah is located at 185 N. Mountain Ave. in Ashland.
