Ashland Contemporary Theatre is proud to host "An Evening with Rumi." It's a fantastic one-man performance accompanied by live musicians and dervish dancing. For a taste: catch the YouTube clip: http://bit.ly/EveningWithRumi
One night only! Saturday, September 24th at 8pm.
In this vivid montage of Rumi poetry and first-person narrative threads, the life, levity and luminosity of Sufi mystic Jalaluddin Rumi comes alive, as award-winning actor Dan Furst presents the revered and irreverent poet Rumi. Based on translations from Coleman Barks, Kabir Helminski, and Jonathan Star, Dan Furst dramatically embodies the great poet with verve and sapient gusto! With sound and mood-scape accompaniment by musicians Seabury Gould on bamboo flute and bouzouki, Marco Zonka on percussion and vocal textures, and dervish turning by Yahya Suzanna Nadler, an atmosphere of earthy and ecstatic passion and reflection is evoked through dramatic action, verse, and song.
Performance is at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Rd, Ashland
Tickets: General $15.00, Seniors $12.00, Students $8.00, available at Paddington Station, Ashland and Grocery Outlet, Medford
