The American Band College Directors Band 24th Annual July 4 Fireworks Concert takes place at the Ashland High School Football Stadium. Dubbed the best place in Ashland to view the fireworks, the last 30 minutes of music is synchronized with the display.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Small group performances begin at 7 p.m., with the full band concert beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets $18 for adults, $13 for seniors 62 and older, and under 12 are free with a paying adult. Tickets are available at Cripple Creek Music in Ashland or on-line at www.bandworld.org.
The two 90-member bands are composed of 180 high school, middle school, and college band directors who come from most states the US and who are in the three-year American Band College masters degree program.
Guest conductors are Lowell Graham and Ralph Hultgren. Guest soloist is flutist Marianne Gedigian. Peter Boonshaft is MC and will conduct during Gedigian’s performance.
The evening will begin with the presentation of state flags and honoring WWII vets of the Rogue Valley. A highlight of the evening’s performance is a multi-media presentation of the history of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, performed by all 180 band directors and a full choir with narration and big-screen video.
