The American Band College Directors’ Band presents its 21st Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Concert at the Ashland High School football stadium. Small ensembles begin performing at 7 p.m., main concert begins at 8 p.m. Dubbed the “best place to see the fireworks,” the last 30 minutes of the performance coincides with the fireworks display. Guest soloist is flutist Jim Walker who is heard on over 600 movie soundtracks. Guest conductors are Jan Van Der Roost from Belgium and James M. Bankhead, Director of the School of Music at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, TX. The two 110-member ABC Directors Bands consists of high school, middle school and college band directors who are in the American Band College masters degree program on the Southern Oregon University campus. A new addition for 2009 features an hour of video, projected on two 16 x 9-foot screens. The live music is coordinated with six multimedia showsTickets are $16 for adults, $12 for seniors 62 and up and free under 12 with a paying adult. Tickets are available at Cripple Creek Music and on-line at www.bandworld.org. Tickets also available at the gate beginning at 6:30 p.m.
