A Course In Miracles study group meets every Friday at 10 am in Ashland. Looking for Peace? Peace seems difficult to find in this world, love elusive and joy distant. As we can see from current conditions, security and peace are hard to find in this world. If you are inspired to learn that inner peace, tranquility, security and joy are possible no matter what is happening in the world, then join the A Course In Miracles study every Friday from 10 am to noon in Ashland.
As its preface states, "Although Christian in statement, the Course deals with universal spiritual themes.” It applies different meanings to Christian terms. It is a carefully planned non-dual, spiritual/psychological, metaphysical mind training program, intended to help us remember our true Identity. We learn that with forgiveness and kindness applied to all relationships, we become released from guilt and fear thus becoming more peaceful. The Course makes use of many psychological concepts and terms such as denial, projection and dissociation. To find out more visit www.acim.org
The Course a non-dual thought system was written over a seven year period starting in1965 by Dr. Helen Schucman who heard a voice but did not claim to be the author herself. She heard what she called a kind of inner dictation even though at times she disagreed with it and resisted the process. She was assisted by her Colleague, William Thetford. They were Professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.
One only has to peruse the book, written in Shakespearean blank verse, iambic pentameter, to see its true magnificence. The Course was published in 1973 and has since been translated to13 languages with more translations on the way.
Everyone is welcome to join in the discussion of the spiritual, psychological teachings and metaphysics of the Course. If having a happier life or being more peaceful is on your New Year’s resolution list then join this on-going self-study group. Free – Donations accepted.
