Food & Friends, Meals on Wheels, is hosting the 7th Annual Fun Walk in Ashland on Saturday, May 16th, 2009. Registration begins at 8:45 AM. Walkers will leave from the Ashland Senior Center at 1699 Homes Avenue at 9:30 AM and walk to the Ashland Nature Park and back to the Senior Center, about 2.5 miles. The Fun Walk Raffle drawing will be held once walkers have returned to the Ashland Senior Center, where refreshments will be available.Walkers who have collected pledges can turn in money during registration. Those with pledges totaling $100 or more will receive a free Fun Walk T-Shirt, and the walker with the highest total will be awarded a Grand Prize. Other donations will be accepted at the event as well. Our goal for the Fun Walk is to raise $12,000. This fundraising event will help support Food & Friends provide both Meals on Wheels and congregate meals to seniors. Last year Food & Friends served over 155,000 meals in Jackson County and must raise $100,000 to ensure that every eligible senior who calls receives meals.
