The Arrow: direction, goals, productivity, intention, focus, ambition, missionThe Meander: reverie, fallow, being, receptivity, surrenderI received the vision of this symbol while working long days building a stone foundation for strawbale walls. I came to believe it was trying to show me balance, between productive work and restorative relaxation. I use it in my business to remind myself that both aspects of life are needed for balance.At first I thought this was an entirely new symbol that arose from my undermind, until i realized it was a lot like a snake (many people see a sperm), and that the snake, when curved around into a circle with its mouth near its tail-tip, was a very ancient symbol, called the Ourobouros. It has come to be thought of as having its tail IN its mouth, which is a symbol of self-destruction and futility. But originally, its tail was merely near its mouth, symbolizing the open loop, the cosmic turning, the ever-renewing round of seasons, the cycles of the moon, the turning of day and night, and all risings and fallings--in short, the spiral.
